MUSIC FOR TREES UPCOMING EVENTSince their soft launch here at CarriageWorks in July, the little tree has been a’growing and Music for Trees now have their next event coming up on Sunday 5th Dec.In alignment with their Greening The Wharf initiative, and as part of the Sydney Arts Precinct Open Day, the Sydney Theatre Company have invited Music for Trees to collaborate with them to convert The Wharf Restaurant at Pier 4 into a Music For Trees cafe/bar and live music stage. For those of you who don’t know, here’s the lowdown on what this tree shindig is all about.
Music For Trees is a non-profit initiative launched this year. They put on free live music events that raise money to plant trees in agroforestry based Community Forest Garden programs in Central + South America, Africa and Asia. The aim is to connect people on this end with the idea that they can do simple everyday things that have a massive impact on improving environment and community around the world. The aim at the other end is to create Forest Garden projects in poverty stricken and environmentally degraded areas, so that communities can begin to better sustain themselves and the environments where they live.So really, while its Music For Trees - it’s effectively People For People. So far, Music for Trees have planted over 20,000 trees to date and are hoping to plant 50,000-100,000 from this event on Sunday 5 December. Music for Trees have just had 4 events confirmed for next year (that’s a big hint to something that is coming as part of our 2011 CarriageWorks program! wink wink) , so the tree tally is going to keep growing (excuse the pun!) as Music for Trees grow, which is exciting. So, enjoy some great live music and support some tree planting antics - all set to a back drop of some pretty speccy Sydney views. Its daytime this time, and family friendly so bring your tackers with you, if tackers you have.Read more about Music For Trees at www.musicfortrees.com
