Unplugged + Uncomplicated = Trees
Music For Trees is back to program our next Unplugged and Uncomplicated gig on Saturday 27 August. Its an awesome line up of talented, local artists including Jordan Leser, Andy Golledge, Les Deux Violettes and John Dixon.
To celebrate we’re going to help them plant some more trees! All you have to do is Like Music For Trees’ facebook page and they’ll plant a tree for you - on us.
One Click = One Tree.
The trees planted through Music For Trees events restore life to environmentally degraded land and improve the quality of life of thousands of communities around the world through community managed, agroforestry based, Garden Forest Projects. In just one year, the support for Music For Trees has planted over 60,000 trees.
So join us on Saturday 27 August from noon til 5pm to enjoy a free afternoon of music, over a coffee or glass of wine in the CarriageWorks cafe.

Eco-Friendly Seating
On Monday I visited the Switch Digital Arts Centre at the Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) in Parramatta. It’s an awesome creative space for emerging artists and entrepreneurs to collaborate, experiment and explore digital technologies.
Whist there I was also stopped-short by some fab eco-friendly cardboard/foam chairs in the centre’s foyer. Google tells me the chairs were created by local designer Arthur Koutoulas. Now I just need to find somewhere in my house to put one…or two.

Open Day at Michael Mobbs’ Sustainable House
To celebrate the publication of the second edition of the book, Sustainable House, and to make the information about it more widely available, I’m offering a special tour of the house on two Saturdays, 16 and 23 October 2010.
Tours commence at 11 am and finish at 12 noon.
The tours will show what’s happened after 14 years of living in a sustainable house. The tours will explain some of the data which is in the book. The book will be provided on the tour as part of the tour.
Cost is $55 for the tour and the book (which retails at $45).
Bookings essential by email to: info@sustainablehouse.com.au
Cameras welcome!
See you there, at the little house that could … and yours can, too …
Oh, and check out this terrific video of the splitting of the beehive here a few weeks ago by Peter Clarke.

CarriageWorks is extremely lucky to be working with Michael Mobbs on all aspects of our Sustainable Works Project.
Michael Mobbs is a Sustainability Coach, former Environment Lawyer and author of Sustainable House. Michael provided invaluable advice and insight at the early stages of the Sustainable Works project and has continued working with CarriageWorks as the coordinator of the Kitchen Garden Project and as an ongoing consultant with long term renewable energy projects. Michael’s imagination, humour, wide range of experience and his willingness to take risks, really shaped the direction of the Sustainable Works Project and lead to goals and benchmarks that may otherwise seemed impossible; such as the Edible Office Garden.
